Rachel Villarreal Thackerson, LMFT

Rachel strives to provide collaborative support to individuals and families in navigating difficult life stages and gaining personal awareness. She encourages individuals to be active in their own counseling efforts and looks to work side-by-side with them in meeting their own counseling goals. Rachel practices from a systemic approach and not only sees the individual but also explores the system in which they are a part of. She specializes in co-parenting, pre-marital counseling, Depression, Anxiety, self-harm, addiction and codependency, anger management, and self-esteem. She believes that with increased personal awareness and insight that individuals begin to be more proactive in the choices they make to achieve their desired lifestyle.

Rachel has a Bachelors degree in Human Development and Family Science from the University of North Texas, and a Masters degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Texas Woman’s University. Rachel sees adults, adolescents, families, and couples. In addition to working in private practice, Rachel formally worked for a Juvenile Detention Center where she saw families and adolescents navigating the justice system. Rachel is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, and is passionate about helping others gain increased autonomy and agency for themselves.
